Substrate = carbocycle or heterocycle having reactive center susceptible to nucleophilic attack by said nucleophile & Catalyst = asymmetric tetradentate ligand complexed with a metal atom, which complex has a rectangular planner or rectangular pyramidal geometry.
Under this technology, epoxides are resolved with (S,S)- Salem-CO (III) catalyst. The development of catalysts from 2002 till date by using oligomer CO (III) have reduced the cost of production of S-Epoxide cost considerably.
Essentially, this technology has given Shasun an access to an improved process to produce the monomer catalyst for chiral synthesis, an improved process to manufacture chiral epoxides, an efficient process to produce a much more active oligomeric form of the catalyst.
